Terms & License

Version 1.4 · Store-only release terms · Last updated September 6, 2026

New HandSplit Piano purchases are billed only by Apple App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft Store. Direct website checkout is unavailable.

1. Seller and store

NovaSound Labs is an independent individual developer project. The applicable store listing and receipt show the seller identity, local price, taxes, billing entity, and store contract terms for the transaction. These terms supplement the store terms and do not limit mandatory consumer rights.

2. License grant

We grant you, as the individual purchaser, a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable license to install and use the App for your own personal or professional activities on up to two active devices that you own or control.

3. Ownership

The App, including its algorithms, MIDI-processing logic, design, and code, is owned by NovaSound Labs or its licensors. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You retain ownership of your MIDI files.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code, except only where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Modify, adapt, or create derivative works.
  • Bypass, disable, or interfere with licensing or security mechanisms.
  • Redistribute, share, sell, rent, sublicense, or transfer the App, store entitlement, or license credential.

5. License activation and enforcement

License credentials are personal. We may suspend or revoke a license when there is reasonable evidence of fraud, sharing, piracy, a material uncured breach, a full refund or chargeback, or an attempt to bypass protections. Notice and remedy rights required by law remain unaffected.

6. Free use and one-time store purchase

The Free offer permits up to three individual song exports and does not include batch processing. The store’s non-consumable or one-time product unlocks the current supported major version without a recurring subscription and supports up to two active compatible devices. Apple entitlement is shared by the iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions when offered as the same universal purchase; Google Play covers supported Android phones and tablets; Microsoft Store covers Windows. A purchase on one store does not automatically create an entitlement on another store.

7. Payments and refunds

Prices, taxes, payment collection, receipts, and refunds are handled by the store used for the purchase. There is no direct web checkout. See the Refund Policy and the applicable store terms.

8. Updates and availability

We may provide maintenance updates and may change, suspend, or discontinue features or online services. A perpetual license does not mean that every feature or service will remain compatible or available forever. We will honor mandatory consumer rights relating to the product sold.

9. User files and responsibility

You are responsible for the content, legality, backups, and use of your files. The App processes MIDI locally, but you should keep independent backups of important files.

10. Third-party components and stores

The App may include third-party or open-source components under their own licenses. Apple, Google, and Microsoft store terms apply to their respective versions. NovaSound Labs remains responsible for the App to the extent required by each store; Apple is a third-party beneficiary of this Agreement where Apple’s terms require it.

11. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “as is” and “as available”. This clause does not exclude warranties, remedies, or guarantees that cannot legally be excluded.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including loss of files or business interruption. Nothing limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including mandatory consumer protections.

13. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for claims caused by your unlawful misuse of the App or material violation of this Agreement.

14. Governing law and disputes

Store dispute and billing procedures apply first to store transactions. Nothing in these terms excludes mandatory consumer protections or forums that apply in a customer’s place of residence.

15. Termination

The license may terminate after a material breach that is not cured following notice where a cure is legally required, or after a full refund, reversal, or chargeback. On termination, stop using and delete the App, except where the law provides otherwise.
